Summary
The Specialised team were engaged by Crown to undertake the project management services for their Metropol Data Centre upgrade.
The project involved mechanical and electrical upgrades to accommodate the deployment of critical IT Equipment. The project also included the construction of air containment systems to improve airflows throughout the room, which enhanced the performance of both the new and existing equipment.
The project was complex due to the following factors:
• the upgrades had to be undertaken in a live data centre environment. This is always complex.
• due to the aggressive project program, the design documentation, pre-procurement of equipment and pre-construction works all needed occur simultaneously. The SPM team had to facility a working relationship between all project partners to achieve this outcome.
• The design needed to be based on readily available equipment that could be housed within the existing spatial constraints of the room.
Our team rose to the challenge and delivered this complex upgrade for Crown.
