Hyatt Centric Hotel, Melbourne

Specialised was engaged by Hickory during the final six months of the project to oversee the coordination and integration of all services at the Hyatt Centric Melbourne, which features 280 guest rooms and a restaurant inspired by Melbourne’s vibrant food scene.

The hotel is fully compatible with the “World of Hyatt” app, allowing for contactless digital check-in and the ability for guests to update their room preferences, such as lighting and temperature, prior to arrival. Specialised’s responsibilities included facilitating client interface and project coordination meetings, managing and reporting on commissioning to meet ESD requirements, and leading commissioning, integration, and testing meetings. They oversaw all trades, managing the interface of services into a converged IT network, and provided design and engineering advice during the project’s completion.

A significant challenge involved the installation of a converged network connecting over 1,500 devices, necessitating coordination of this system alongside the commissioning management of mechanical (BAS), electrical, communications, security, hydraulics, fire systems, and lifts, in collaboration with Hyatt and the building owner, Little Projects.
